🌿 Winter Harvest – Woody Point
A gentle winter afternoon by the bay, a cutting board full of citrus, and the calm rhythm of a house‑sit kitchen. This week’s Winter Harvest became something bright — our Sunshine Marmalade, a jar of warmth made right here at Woody Point.
Winter at Woody Point has its own quiet rhythm. The mornings are cool, the afternoons soft, and the kitchen becomes a little workshop of warmth. Yesterday’s citrus — bright limes, tiny kumquats, and those deep orange fruits gathered straight from the home owners’ garden — sat waiting on the cutting board, glowing against the grain of the timber.
We called it our Winter Harvest, a small collection of color, gathered on a gentle bayside afternoon. The house was calm, Henry snoozing in his favorite spot, and the pot on the stove slowly filled the kitchen with that unmistakable citrus perfume. There’s something soothing about marmalade simmering — the way it thickens, the way the fruit softens, the way time seems to slow down with it.
By morning, the marmalade had settled into its final shape: a warm amber glow, bright and cheerful against the winter light. We spooned it onto toast, letting it catch the edges and drip just a little. The jar sat beside us, shining like a tiny sunrise.
And as we ate, the moment felt complete — as the Sun crept through the kitchen.
A simple winter harvest, turned into a jar of sunshine.
A Big Thank you.
We’re grateful to the homeowners for sharing their beautiful garden with us. The citrus trees have been a quiet gift during our stay — offering color, flavor, and a sense of connection to the home we’re caring for. This marmalade is a small way of honoring that generosity.
Refection
Every house sit gives us something different. Sometimes it’s a new neighborhood to explore, sometimes it’s a gentle dog like Henry to keep us company, and sometimes — like here at Woody Point — it’s the chance to turn a handful of home‑grown citrus into something warm and bright.
These small moments become part of our journey. A jar of marmalade, a quiet winter morning, sunlight drifting through a borrowed kitchen. They remind us why we love this life: the simplicity, the kindness, and the way each home leaves us with a little piece of itself.
Introducing my Sunshine Marmalade, crafted with everything that embodies sunshine: happiness, joy, love, and warmth, all balanced with just a hint of fire and wit. It's the perfect blend, not too much, just enough to create harmony.
