🌿 Sit #1 — Dalveen
Our very first house sit was in Dalveen, a quiet place that felt tucked away from the rush of everything. The house sat on the front part of the property, looking out over the land in a way that made mornings feel slow and peaceful.
Out the back, the paddocks opened up wide. That’s where the goats liked to roam, wandering around the dam and keeping an eye on anything that moved. We had two goats to look after, four chooks scratching around, and one dog who quickly became our shadow. Lea loved her walks there — long, open stretches where she could sniff, explore, and settle into the rhythm of the place.
The dam was a calm spot, especially in the late afternoon when the light softened and the goats drifted closer. It was the kind of property where you felt connected to the land without even trying. Simple, quiet, and full of small moments that stayed with us.
That sit in Deaveen was where our journey really began.
🌾 Sit #2 — Forest Hills
Our second sit took us to Forest Hills, a quiet farm with a wide, open feel. The property had a softness to it — long stretches of land, gentle hills, and that peaceful farm silence broken only by animals going about their day.
We cared for three horses, a steer, and two dogs, each adding its own rhythm to the week. This was the sit where I really began learning more about horses: feeding them, watching their habits, and slowly understanding their calm, thoughtful nature. The steer was steady and curious, always keeping an eye on whatever we were doing, as if supervising the farm from a distance.
Out the back was a small dam, a favorite spot for almost everyone. Ducks drifted across the water, unhurried and content. The dogs loved it most — swimming, splashing, and racing each other along the edge, tails going a million miles an hour. The horses often wandered down too, standing quietly near the water as if they were part of the landscape itself.
There was an aviary full of birds, each with its own sound and personality. Their chatter added a soft background to the mornings, a kind of music that made the farm feel alive. And almost every day, the kookaburras arrived. They came close, waiting for a little treat, laughing their big, happy laugh as if they were greeting us. Those moments felt special — simple, friendly, and full of character.
Forest Hills was where the journey began to feel real. Where we realized that every sit would have its own story, its own rhythm, and its own little world to step into.
🌊 Sit #3 — Dundowran Beach
Our third sit took us to Dundowran Beach, just near Hervey Bay. It was a peaceful coastal property with tidy gardens, soft sea breezes, and that feeling you get when a place makes you slow down the moment you arrive. The kookaburras were often the first to greet us, laughing from the trees, and they weren’t alone — butcherbirds and magpies drifted in and out of the garden like friendly neighbor's, curious and calm, as if they were part of the family.
We looked after three female dogs: Bonny, Fifi, and Coco, each with her own personality.
Bonny, the eldest, carried a gentle, wise presence. She loved her walks down to the beach, never rushing, just taking in the world around her. She liked to sit on the sand, watching the waves roll in while keeping an eye on Coco and Fifi as they chased the ball. Bonny didn’t need excitement — she was happiest simply being part of the moment.
Fifi, the poodle, was soft, cuddly, and completely devoted to people. She loved being close, loved sleeping near you, and loved any attention she could get. Her sweet, comforting energy made the house feel warm.
Coco, the youngest, was full of life. If she could chase a ball all day, she would. That was her favourite thing in the world. She ran with pure joy — ears flying, tail wagging, already ready for the next throw before the ball even landed. Coco brought fun and excitement to every beach walk.
The property itself was beautiful — clean gardens, friendly birds, and the sound of the ocean never far away. It was a simple, peaceful sit filled with beach walks, ball games, and the gentle company of three very different dogs.
Dundowran Beach was a lovely change of pace. Quiet, coastal, and full of small moments that made the days feel easy and bright
🌅 Sit #4 — Qunaba
Our fourth sit was in Qunaba, a short stay but a lovely one. The property sat high on the hill with an amazing view out the back — the kind of view that made you stop for a moment, breathe, and just relax. It was peaceful, quiet, and perfect for unwinding between longer sits.
We looked after Ozzy, a young male dog with a bright, happy nature. He was very well trained — calm when you needed him to be, and full of energy when it was time for a walk. Ozzy loved going out, especially down the paths where he could explore and stretch his legs. He walked proudly, tail up, enjoying every bit of the outing like he was showing off his favourite place.
Even though it was a short stay, Ozzy made it memorable. His good manners, his eagerness for walks, and that beautiful view behind the house all came together to make Qunaba feel peaceful and easy.
It was a simple sit — gentle, relaxed, and exactly what we needed before moving on to the next adventure.
🌾 Sit #5 — Mum’s Home @ Home Hill
Our fifth sit was at Mum’s place, a familiar and peaceful spot with cane fields stretching out behind the house. There’s something special about being there when the cane is burned — the glow, the crackle, and the quiet stillness afterward. It’s a moment that feels both powerful and calming, and it gives the whole area a grounded, homely feeling.
We looked after Cinno and Skyla, two gorgeous dogs with big personalities.
Cinno, the eldest, was a true home‑body. He loved wandering around the yard, checking things out at his own pace, following his little routines. When Cinno felt playful, he really came alive — bouncing around with a spark in his eyes. He enjoyed pats, but only when he decided it was time. Calm, steady, and very well trained, Cinno carried himself with a gentle confidence that made him easy to be around.
Skyla, the youngest, was full of energy and always ready to play. She chased anything that moved — a leaf, a shadow, a toy — it didn’t matter. She loved being the center of attention and wasn’t shy about stepping in if Cinno was getting pats she thought should be hers. Like Cinno, she was a home‑body too, happiest when she was close to people and involved in whatever was happening.
Together, Cinno and Skyla made the stay feel warm and lively. Their personalities balanced each other perfectly — Cinno calm and steady, Skyla bright and playful. It was a relaxing sit with two beautiful dogs who filled the days with small joys and familiar comfort.
🌴 Sit #6 — Bluewater, Townsville
Our sixth sit was in Bluewater, Townsville, and we enjoyed every moment of it. The home was beautiful — peaceful, tidy, and full of that relaxed North Queensland feeling. It was the kind of place where you settle in quickly, surrounded by loving fur babies who made the stay feel complete.
Evie was full of joy and absolutely loved her rides in the back of the ute. She was very well trained, knowing exactly when to sit safely and when she could stand to have a good look around. She enjoyed watching the world pass by, greeting other dogs as she went, and she loved her walks on the beach. Every trip was an adventure for her — ears up, eyes bright, tail wagging.
Angel, the 20‑year‑old cat, was curious and affectionate. Even at her age, she still explored the house with gentle interest. At night she would come in for a pat, leaning in for a little love before settling down. She had that soft, comforting presence older cats carry, making the evenings feel warm and peaceful.
And then there was Luna — the snake. Feeding Luna was something different, but we enjoyed it. She was calm, beautiful, and surprisingly easy to care for. Watching her move was almost hypnotic, a quiet reminder of how many kinds of animals can make a home feel alive.
Bluewater was a sit full of variety and gentle moments — a beautiful home, a loving mix of pets, beach walks, and peaceful nights. It was a place that welcomed us in and made the stay feel special from beginning to end.
🌧️ Sit #7 — Townsville (After Christmas in Home Hill)
After spending Christmas back in Home Hill with Mum, we headed to Townsville for our next sit. It was a peaceful stay, with a beautiful home and two loving dogs who made the days feel easy and relaxed. Most of our time there was filled with rain — long, steady showers that made the yard smell fresh and the mornings feel calm — with a few beautiful sunny days mixed in.
We took care of Goldie and Chilli, two dogs with very different personalities but a lovely bond.
Goldie, the younger female, was full of sweetness and curiosity. She loved sitting with me on the outdoor chair while I had my morning coffee, both of us watching the rain fall across the yard. Breakfast was her favourite part of the day, and as soon as she finished, she was ready to play with Chilli — rain or shine. Goldie always wanted to be first in line for a bath and a brush, standing proudly as if she knew she looked her best afterward.
Chilli, the older male, was a gentle old gentleman who loved his pats and quiet moments. He enjoyed sitting on the couch with us while we watched TV, settling in close and soaking up the comfort. Calm, steady, and easy to be around — Chilli was the kind of dog who makes a home feel warm just by being there. When bath time came, he waited patiently behind Goldie, happy to take his turn.
Both dogs were loving, well‑behaved, and full of personality. Even with the rain, the days felt peaceful — coffee on the outdoor chair, dogs playing in the yard, soft evenings on the couch, and the simple joy of caring for two gorgeous fur babies.
It was a gentle, relaxing stay — the perfect way to ease into the new year.
🏡 Sit #8 — Rockhampton
Our eighth sit took us to Rockhampton, where we looked after two beautiful cats in a partly finished house. Even though the home wasn’t complete yet, you could already see how lovely it would be once everything was done — full of character, space, and charm. There was a quiet, peaceful feeling to the place, the kind that makes you settle in easily.
The two boys were the highlight of the sit. They brought life and warmth into the house, turning every morning into something special. They loved their meals and their treats, especially while I sat with my coffee. They would come over, tails up, eyes bright, ready for breakfast and a little attention. Their gentle company made the mornings feel calm and cosy.
Even in a house still being finished, those two boys made it feel like home. Their routines, their affection, and their happy little personalities filled the space with comfort.
Rockhampton was a simple, peaceful sit — quiet mornings, friendly cats, and the feeling of watching a home slowly come together
🐈 Sit #9 — Parkhurst, Rockhampton
This sit was a short and peaceful stay in Parkhurst, Rockhampton, looking after two cats in a large, comfortable home. The house had plenty of space and a calm feeling, making the days easy and relaxing.
The two boys had very different personalities.
One was confident and happy to come out for pats, checking in during the day and enjoying a bit of attention. He wandered around the home, keeping us company and making sure we knew he was there.
The other preferred to stay hidden, choosing his own quiet spot and only coming out when he felt safe. Even though we didn’t see him much, knowing he was comfortable in his favorite hiding place made the sit feel gentle and calm.
It was a simple, cozy stay — two cats, a large home, and quiet days that passed softly.
🐾 Sit #10 — Maryborough
Sit 10 took us to Maryborough, where we looked after two lovely cats and a small group of chooks. It was a peaceful stay in a comfortable home, with quiet mornings, soft routines, and the gentle company of animals who made each day feel calm.
We cared for Smoochie and Watson, two cats with very different personalities.
Smoochie, the oldest male, was a friendly boy who loved his routines. Every morning he came out for breakfast, then sat with me while I had my coffee. He enjoyed those quiet moments, watching the day begin. In the afternoons he would come inside and sit with us on the couch, staying close until dinner time. Smoochie had a warm, steady presence that made the house feel cosy.
Watson, a little younger, loved her naps. She slept most of the day in different spots around the home, always finding a comfortable place to curl up. When it was mealtime, she was the first to the kitchen, ready and waiting. She enjoyed a pat whenever you walked past, leaning in gently before settling back down again. Watson brought a soft, peaceful energy to the sit.
Then there were the chooks, and they were a delight. They followed us around the yard like pets — curious, friendly, and full of personality. Each day they laid an egg, happy and content in their little routine. Their gentle clucking added a lovely touch to the stay.
Out the back was a small aviary filled mostly with budgies — bright, cheerful, and full of chatter. Their soft sounds drifted through the yard, making the mornings feel alive.
Maryborough was a gentle sit — two loving cats, friendly chooks, cheerful budgies, and quiet days that felt warm and easy.
🌤️ Sit #11 — Tannum Sands
Sit 11 took us to Tannum Sands, a peaceful coastal stay where we looked after Louie, a beautiful dog who quickly became Grant’s shadow. From the moment we arrived, Louie made it clear who his favourite person was. Wherever Grant went, Louie followed — happy, loyal, and always close by.
Louie loved going out into the yard to play with Grant and his toys. He had that excited, joyful energy that made every game feel special. Whether it was a quick run, a tug, or just exploring the yard together, Louie was always ready.
One of his favourite things was going for a drive in the ute with Grant. A trip to the shops, a ride to the beach, or just a short outing — Louie loved it all. He stood proudly in the back, ears up, watching the world go by, knowing he was safe and right where he wanted to be.
In the mornings, Louie liked to wander outside while Grant had his coffee. He would sniff around the yard, check everything out, and enjoy the quiet start to the day. After that, he spent most of the time sleeping in the room, usually on the bed, waiting for Grant to get up. It was their little routine, and Louie loved it.
The bond between Grant and Louie was something special — gentle, strong, and unforgettable. Louie wasn’t just a dog we cared for; he became a true companion during our stay.
This sit was split into two parts, but Louie made both feel warm, easy, and full of love.
🐾 Sit #12 — Beecher
Sit 12 took us to Beecher, where we looked after a lively mix of animals — three Maremmas, little Kuri, Rupert the pig, Nikky the horse, and a busy yard full of chooks and guinea fowl with their tiny keets. It was a full, happy sit with lots of personalities and plenty of moments that made us smile.
The three Maremmas were the heart of the stay: Cargo, Roma, and Sarge.
Cargo, the eldest, was calm and wise — a natural teacher. Roma, next in age, was steady and gentle, always close by. And then there was Sarge — the youngest, still learning, full of energy and curiosity. Cargo took him under his wing, guiding him and showing him how things were done. Watching the older dog teach the younger one was something special.
Little Kuri was always fun. She followed us everywhere and never wanted to leave our side. Full of love, full of mischief, and always ready for attention, she brought a bright spark to every day.
Then there was Rupert the pig — a real character. When he knew it was mealtime, he made all the classic pig sounds — loud, excited, and impossible not to laugh at. Rupert brought so much joy to the yard.
Nikky the horse taught us something new. I learned a different way of feeding her — making her feed up fresh rather than using everything pre‑made. I also put on her full face mask to keep the flies away. She was clever and cheeky. When it was time for Rebecca to hang the hay bag, Nikky always tried to beat me to the stable so I wouldn’t accidentally lock her out. It became a little game between us.
The yard was full of life. Chooks followed us around like pets — friendly, curious, and always nearby. And the guinea fowl with their keets were busy and bright, adding movement and sound to the property.
Beecher was a wonderful stay — full of animals, full of personality, and full of gentle moments that made every day feel warm and meaningful.
🌤️ Sit #13 — Tannum Sands (Part Two)
Sit 13 brought us back to Tannum Sands for the second part of our stay with Louie. Coming back felt familiar and easy — like returning to a friend who had been waiting for us.
Louie was just as loving and loyal as before. He slipped straight back into his routine with Grant, following him everywhere, always close, always watching. Their bond hadn’t faded at all; if anything, it felt even stronger the second time around.
He loved going out into the yard to play, running around with his toys and enjoying every moment. And of course, he still adored his drives in the ute — sitting proudly in the centre of the front seat beside Grant, ready for any outing, whether it was the shops, the beach, or just a short trip down the road.
In the mornings, Louie wandered outside while Rebecca had her coffee, checking the yard and enjoying the quiet start to the day. After that, he settled into his favourite spot in the room, usually on the bed, waiting patiently for Grant to get up. It was their little ritual, and Louie loved it.
The second part of the Tannum Sands sit was just as warm and gentle as the first — full of play, quiet mornings, ute rides, and that unforgettable bond between Grant and Louie. It was a simple, beautiful stay that left a lasting mark on both of them.
🐩 Sit #14 — Boyne Island
Sit 14 took us to Boyne Island, where we looked after a young male poodle. He was unsure of us for the first two days — keeping his distance, watching quietly, trying to figure out who we were. But once he realised we were good people, everything changed. His confidence grew, his tail lifted, and he began to enjoy every part of the stay.
One of his favourite things was heading down to the backyard and out onto the jetty. We spent time fishing and putting crab pots in, and he absolutely loved it. Whenever we pulled up a crab or caught a fish, he became so excited he would sprint back up the yard doing zoomies, full of joy and energy. It was impossible not to smile watching him celebrate.
He was a good dog — young, bright, and still learning. Every day he grew a little more comfortable, a little more confident, and a lot more playful. By the end of the sit, he wasn’t just comfortable with us… he was happy, relaxed, and completely part of our little routine.
Boyne Island was a fun, lively stay — a young poodle discovering trust, fishing on the jetty, crab pots, zoomies across the yard, and the simple joy of watching a dog learn to love his days.
🌿 Sit 15 — Cooloola Cove (Near Tin Can Bay)
Sit 15 took us to Cooloola Cove, near Tin Can Bay, where we looked after Zues — a big boy with an even bigger heart. He was playful, loving, and full of personality. From the moment we arrived, he made the stay feel warm and easy.
Zues loved his food, and he always let us know when it was time. He had his own way of reminding us — gentle, excited, and impossible to ignore. His morning routine was one of the highlights of the sit. He enjoyed his brush every day, standing proudly while we brushed his coat and gave him his doggie spray. He knew he looked good afterward, and he carried himself with that happy confidence only a well‑groomed dog has.
The yard was open and peaceful, full of a mix of birds that came to visit throughout the day. Their sounds and movements added a calm, natural feeling to the property, making each morning and afternoon feel relaxed and gentle.
Zues was a big boy, but soft at heart — playful, proud after his grooming, excited for his meals, and full of love. Cooloola Cove was a beautiful stay, simple and peaceful, with a dog who made every day feel bright.
🌺 Sit 16 — Dundowran Beach (Return Visit)
Sit 16 took us back to Dundowran Beach, and the moment we arrived, Bonny, FiFi, and Coco were so happy to see us. It felt like coming home to old friends. Their tails were wagging, their excitement was overflowing, and you could tell they remembered us straight away.
Bonny, the gentle eldest, greeted us with her calm, loving nature. FiFi was full of joy, bouncing around with her bright personality. And Coco, the youngest, was bursting with energy, thrilled to have us back.
Returning to Dundowran Beach was a beautiful moment — familiar dogs, familiar smiles, and that warm feeling of being welcomed back by three girls who truly loved having us there.
🌾 Sit #17 — River Heads
Sit 17 took us to River Heads, where we looked after two beautiful Hungarian Vizslas — Zoe and Nickle. They were both full of personality, each with their own way of showing love and keeping the days interesting.
Zoe was the boss. She had that confident, independent nature Vizslas are known for, and she made sure Nickle understood the rules in her own gentle way. She liked doing things on her terms — checking in when she wanted affection and wandering off when she felt like exploring. When the weather turned cold, both dogs loved having their coats on, standing proudly as if they knew they looked smart and ready for the day.
Nickle was the softer soul. He loved being right by your side, always ready for pats and cuddles. If you sat down, he was there. If you walked through the house, he followed. His gentle nature made him easy to love, and he brought a calm, affectionate energy to the stay.
Like most dogs, they loved their food and treats. Mealtime was always a happy moment — tails wagging, eyes bright, full of excitement and anticipation.
Both dogs were very well‑behaved, making the sit peaceful and enjoyable.
One of their favourite things was going for a ride on the back of the ute. Whether it was a trip to the beach or a quick run to the shop, they were excited every time — ears up, eyes bright, ready for adventure. Watching them enjoy those rides was one of the highlights of River Heads.
River Heads was a beautiful stay — two Vizslas with big hearts, gentle routines, cold‑weather coats, ute rides, treats, and the simple joy of caring for dogs who loved every moment of being with us
🌄 Sit 18 — Sarina Range
Sit 18 took us to the Sarina Range, a beautiful country home that encourages you to spend time outdoors. The open veranda looked out over their stunning estate, giving us peaceful views no matter the time of day. Even the spa had a perfect outlook across the ranges — warm water, cool air, and scenery that made every moment feel calm.
The property was full of life. They had orchards and plants all within easy reach of water — simple to maintain and lovely to walk through. And for us to enjoy were the cattle, the fluffy‑arse chooks, and Tommy Tigger, the very attentive cat. All of them were easy to care for and full of personality, each adding their own bit of entertainment to the stay.
One of the highlights was spotting a couple of platypus in the creek that bordered the property. Quiet, rare moments — the kind you don’t forget.
Tommy Tigger made the house feel warm. On cold mornings he loved coming into the lounge room, heading straight for the heater. He would curl up on your lap, smoochy and content, enjoying the warmth and the company. Gentle, affectionate, and always close by — he was the perfect companion for those crisp mornings.
Sarina Range was a beautiful stay — country views, friendly animals, peaceful routines, and the soft comfort of Tommy Tigger warming the mornings.
🐱 Sit 19 — Bundaberg
Sit 19 took us back down the coast to Bundaberg, where we cared for three cats — Milo, James, and Rose. Each one was different, with their own quirks and routines that made the stay fun and easy.
In the cat room, James had his favourite toys and loved playing with them. Rose would sit nearby watching everything first, taking her time before joining in. She liked to observe, then step in when she felt ready.
Milo was the relaxed one. He enjoyed sleeping and watching the room from the top of the cat tower, keeping an eye on everything from his high perch.
All three loved sitting together at the front door, watching what was happening outside — birds, people passing, the breeze moving through the yard. It was their quiet way of keeping track of the world.
Rose always let you know when it was mealtime — she had her own little way of reminding you. And Milo, no matter where he was, always came out right on time for his medication, calm and cooperative.
Bundaberg was a peaceful sit — three very different cats, gentle routines, toy play in the cat room, front‑door watching, and those sweet moments when each one showed their personality
